Nicholas Kelley, MSPH

Kelley photo

Mr. Kelley, a research assistant with the CIDRAP Business Source, is a graduate student at the University of Minnesota's School of Public Health, seeking a PhD in environmental health. He received an MSPH in environmental health in 2008 from the University of Minnesota. His master's work focused on the public health implications of an influenza pandemic disrupting the coal supply chain, which is the primary fuel source for electrical generation.

He graduated with a BA in biology from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa. While at Luther, he spent 3 years doing research on Vibrio parahaemolyticus, a novel foodborne pathogen. He also became fascinated by the influenza pandemic of 1918-19, and his synopsis of the disease was published in the Decorah Newspaper. Upon graduating from Luther, he was hired to help research and write Luther's pandemic influenza preparedness plan.
